AI Strategy Workshop

Moving a major retail organization from AI curiosity to AI clarity - with prioritized, business-ready use cases

ROLE

Experience Designer & Co-Facilitator

INDUSTRY

Retail

SCOPE

AI Strategy & Innovation

METHODS

Use Case Ideation, Breakout Facilitation

OVERVIEW

A major retail client needed to move from AI curiosity to AI clarity - understanding how emerging technology could be applied in practical, business-relevant ways while getting internal stakeholders aligned on where to focus. Co-designed the end-to-end workshop in partnership with cross-functional technology teams.

CHALLENGE

The client's leadership team had general awareness of AI but lacked a shared framework for evaluating where it could create real business value. There was a significant gap between the technical knowledge of technology teams and the business priorities of senior leaders, creating misalignment on where to invest and how to move forward.

The risk was that without structure, AI conversations would stay at the level of hype rather than getting to concrete, actionable decisions.

DESIGN PROCESS

01.

Workshop co-design

Built the end-to-end session arc in partnership with EY and technology partner teams, ensuring content bridged technical depth with business accessibility.

02.

Foundation building

Opened the session with a clear, jargon-free grounding in AI fundamentals - giving all participants shared language before moving into application.

03.

Hands-on exploration

Designed breakout exercises where cross-functional teams explored AI applications in the context of their specific business challenges - not abstract use cases.

04.

Use case prioritization

Guided teams through structured prioritization of identified opportunities by business value, feasibility, and strategic fit - producing a ranked and actionable list.
